The Flag of San Marino

White represents peace; azure represents liberty.

The coat of arms shows a shield featuring three towers, each on a peak. The shield is flanked by wreaths of laurel to the left and oak to the right; it has a closed crown above it, and a scroll below it bearing the word LIBERTAS (Liberty).

The three towers that are depicted on the shield are located on the three peaks of Monte Titano in the nation's capital, which is also called San Marino. They are known as the Guaita, the Cesta and the Montale. The Guaita is the oldest of the three, said to date from the 11th century. The Cesta is on the highest of the three peaks.
